Ray Johnson

Ray Johnson died in 1995. He used mainly collage and is most famous for his work during the the pop art movement. He would sometimes cut up his old collages and use parts in his new work. He is known to have once said 'Chop art not Pop art'. Like other pop artists he liked to include images of famous icons such as Elvis Presley, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe. Sometimes he would use cardboard, giving his work a 3D look.

During the final project my work has a collage look to it. Also I have been looking at practitioners who re use things (Adding the DIY feel to the work)
